Although it is quite suitable for use in the
.223Remington/5.56mmx45NATO(There are thousands of people using
2200 on standard AR15’s and M16’s without any problem), it
might be that in some cases the powder might be to fast burning
for the combination. This is due to the fact that the duration
(or time-base), of the pressure pulse is shorter than the more
dedicated/optimized slower burning powders. These effects may vary between different semi
auto weapons, and depends on various internal barrel dimensions,
as well as the diameter of the port vent.
To operate the action reliably the:
The gas-port pressure must be at a
certain level and
The correct volume of gas must be fed
back into the system.
However, we periodically have complaints from
some of them, with specific weapons, that experience functioning
problems.
The rifle might be a match-grade, with an
optimized port vent, to prevent stripping of bullet (jacket)
material. This could have made the system more sensitive to the
gas dynamics at the port take-off.
The ammunition manufacturers all use slower burning powders,
with sufficient residual gas pressure and volume to ensure
reliable functioning under all conditions..
If functional problems, such as short cycling do
occur, I suggest that you switch to slower-burning powders
such as our AA2230, or AA2460.
